Chapter Three

The Civic granary at Bayt’azir is over-run by Ants! Benin and Methomet are summoned, and arrive to find Kuljazar overwhelmed, and the ants pouring forth from the central silo….

Senior Magi intervene, and contain the outbreak.

Mazanrar arrives to offer assistance, and sharing information sends Benin and Methomet off to join forces with Nazeem and Hamal.

Our heroes join forces in the village of Nunkat, where the remains of another ant incursion is found and mopped up, securing a portal into the bargain. They return to Bayt’azir and call on Jemankal, from whose lands they had just come. Jemankal laid claim to his portal, but declined to push It any further..

Mazanrar, in contrast, was gracious, and accepted the pair to his portal offering his support with the Board of surveyors in return. On further investigation the last unpaired antgate was found to lead to the lands of a powerful mage, Zabanadar of Shankiantim. Mazanrar offered a generous sum for the unpaired portal, which was gratefully accepted, teaching the collective Magi Fireball.

Parting in good spirits, they journey back to Fana’yiin overland, via Shankiantim where they are visited by a servant of Zabanadar, who brings a gift of 1 Riyal, and some sundry sorcerous materials.

On return to Fana’yiin, the party are debriefed by Zhahenin who after inspection keeps one of a pair of gates and returns the other, for future Communication.

An application is made to the board of surveyors, and after a surprisingly brief weeks intermission, a grant is given. The Fief of Dis’panad. Some research is undertaken, and the unsettling history is discovered, of Danalazar’s taking of the fief some fifty years ago, and its fall, twenty years ago..

Archives are consulted, maps copied, a PR campaign is launched, and staff are recruited….
